Getting an accurate electrical quote: what to tell us

A few details at the start save a second visit, avoid surprises in the quote and get the right person to your job sooner.

The more we understand about a job before we quote, the more accurate the quote can be. You do not need technical knowledge — plain descriptions are exactly what we need.

The essentials

  • Your postcode, so we can confirm we cover the area.
  • What you want done, or what is going wrong. For faults, tell us when it happens and what else was switched on at the time.
  • The type of property: house, flat, shop, office or site — and roughly how old it is, if you know.
  • How soon you need it. If something is dangerous or you have no power, call instead of filling in a form.

Helpful extras

  • Photos or a short video of the area, the fault or your consumer unit (fuse board). Take them with the covers on — never remove covers or touch wiring to get a better picture. We may ask you to send these after we receive your enquiry.
  • Access arrangements: parking, permits, keys, a managing agent, tenants who need notice, or site rules.
  • Previous paperwork, such as an earlier inspection report or certificates, especially for compliance work.
  • Drawings or a builder's programme for extensions and fit-outs.

What happens next

  1. We read your enquiry and contact you using the method you choose, usually to ask a few questions.
  2. Some small jobs can be assessed from photos. Larger jobs, rewires and commercial work usually need a site visit or survey.
  3. You receive a written quote setting out the work included.
  4. If you approve it, we agree dates and access with you.

Sending an enquiry does not book an appointment, and you are under no obligation to go ahead.

Tell us about the job

Send a few details and we will get back to you to discuss it, or call us — especially if the problem is urgent.
